a Second Career in Local Church Ministry

The online Associate of Divinity degree is designed for the older more mature student. The 62 credit A.Div. is primarily a degree completion program with a core curriculum of 32 credits. The other 30 credits may be awarded from a combination of previous college-level, technical school, military training, business or Advanced Standing placement.

Course Descriptions


Orientation OR-UG

The purpose of this course is to help ensure that the student will begin his or her study program at Master’s with the basic information needed to move successfully toward graduation. For this reason, this course is mandatory of all new students.


Introduction to Biblical Research & Writing RW-201

The purpose of this course is to present the student with an opportunity to demonstrate the ability to do research and writing at the entry (Associate level) college level in a Biblical context.


Evidences for Biblical Inspiration BI-201

This course provides the student with an opportunity to examine the internal evidences for the validity of the Bible as its own source of confirmation of Divine inspiration, and challenges the student to analyze these internal evidences critically and competently.


Fundamentals of Spiritual Warfare SW-201

This course will introduce and expose the student to a genuinely biblical study of spiritual warfare within the context of the Christian life so that they acquire a basic and introductory knowledge regarding the nature of spiritual warfare.


Old Testament Survey OT-201

To give the student a topical understanding of the Old Testament; to provide a general understanding of the purpose and theme of each of those books.


Introduction to Major Prophets MP-201

This is an introductory course that exposes the student to the general content, meaning and purpose of the Old Testament Books classified as the Major Prophets.


New Testament Survey NT-201

The purpose of this course is to broaden the student’s knowledge of the New Testament as a whole; to consider the purpose and theme of each New Testament, and examine the various interpretive options in New Testament studies.


Introduction to Romans RM-201

To introduce the student to the theological themes of the book of Romans; to relate those teachings to rest of Paul’s writings and the overall context of Scripture; to examine the teachings of the book in light of the student’s own doctrinal background.


Introduction to New Testament Theology NTh-201

The purpose of this course is to expose the student to the study of New Testament theology, and to enable the student to understand basic issues related to New Testament theology.


Understanding Biblical Creation BC-201

The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to well respected and peer-reviewed research and writing related to biblical creation as a reasonable and viable foundation for human origins.


Introduction to General Epistles GE-201

This is an introductory course that exposes the student to the general content, meaning and purpose of the New Testament Books classified as General Epistles.
