Designed for individuals who desire solidly Biblical initial training in the ministry of Biblical counseling. The foundational issues related to Biblical counseling form the core curriculum of this program. 

This degree can be earned with 32 credits by combining any A.A. or A.A.S. degree or at least 60 credits from previous study. We can help you document another 30 life-learning portfolio units. You may be able to complete this 122 credit degree for as few as 32 credits. An Admissions Counselor will provide personalized details. We also offer a complete four-year curriculum.

Course Descriptions


Orientation OR-UG

The purpose of this course is to help ensure that the student will begin his or her study program at Master’s with the basic information needed to move successfully toward graduation. For this reason, this course is mandatory of all new students.


Biblical Basis for Counseling BD-401

The purpose of this course is to increase the student’s appreciation for the Bible as an adequate handbook for the human mind, and to supply the student with a foundational system for using the Bible as a counseling model.


Biblical Counselor, the Counseling Center, and the Law: BCCL-1510

This course is designed to inform the student of the best practices to avoid legal issues in the Biblical Counseling practice. The secondary purpose is the prepare the student with the basic information needed to establish a counseling ministry.


Comparative Analysis II CA-401

To encourage the student to complete a comparative and critical analysis of the foundational premises of humanistic psychology as contrasted against an analysis of the human person from a biblical perspective.


Old Testament OT-401

This course is intended to provide the student a general understanding of the Old Testament; to provide a general understanding of the purpose and theme of each of those books; and to establish a wider doctrinal comprehension of the Old Testament.


Readings in Biblical Counseling III CR-401

The purpose of this course is to introduce and expose students to the additional insights and developments in the practice of Biblical counseling so as to better prepare the student to more competently and biblically counsel the people of God.


New Testament NT-401

The purpose of this course is to present and expose the student to the study of the New Testament as a whole; to enable the student to recognize and interpret individual characters, the purpose and theme of each New Testament book and the relation of the Old Testament to the New Testament; to apply that knowledge in the student’s ministry and to lead the student to examine carefully the various interpretive options in New Testament studies.


Readings in Biblical Counseling IV CR-402

This course allows the professor to assign specific readings intended to broaden and strengthen the student in the area of the study of Biblical Counseling.


Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling II FB-401

The purpose of this course is to expand the student’s understanding of the fundamentals of multidimensional biblical (nouthetic) counseling. The student will have the opportunity to recognize, identify and recite these concepts.


Introduction to Counseling Theology II CT-401

To broaden the student’s understanding concerning the wide range of topics in the discipline of Systematic Theology and the relevance of these topics to the work of Biblical counseling.


Marriage and Family Counseling II MF-401

The purpose of this course is to further expose the student to a biblical approach to Marriage and Family counseling so that the student will acquire the basic knowledge of the biblical conceptions of family roles and interpersonal relationships, and be able to trace the importance of these data and interpret them in terms of the counseling process.


Topics in Biblical Counseling II TC-401

The purpose of this course it to build a practical foundation for the students to enable them to identify those issues in themselves which are germane to the work they do with others; to give the student an opportunity to experience, first hand, the process of growth that future counselees will need to experience for their own growth; to build an appreciation for a disciplined approach to the sanctification process; to allow the student to experience the application of the Word of God to specific problems.


Counseling Practicum CP-1520

This course will serve as the counseling program capstone for the student who has completed all of the other academic requirements for the Biblical Counseling degree program.
